Martin Luther King High School (Philadelphia)

Martin Luther King High School is a neighborhood public high school located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the intersection of Stenton Avenue and Haines Street. It is a neighborhood school, meaning no application is necessary for those students that live in the Oak Lane, Mt. Airy and northern Germantown section of Philadelphia. The school opened in 1973.

As of the school year 2005-2006 it had a school population of 1,780, mostly African-American. Programs at Martin Luther King High School include JROTC, Business and Computers Technology. Their team mascot is the cougar and their rivals are the Germantown High School Bears.

Standard dress code

King students are required to wear solid light-colored tops and solid dark-colored bottoms. Their Junior ROTC program was awarded the honor unit award on April 19, 2007. Their school colors are Purple and Gold. [1].
